Vintage Apple Computer, Apple 3 (///) Lapel Pin
For sale today is an Apple /// lapel pin. This lapel pin was provided by Apple in limited numbers to authorized dealers & internal sales force as promotional items when the Apple /// was introduced in 1980. It will come to you with the original clasp and in a jewelry box. Apple never offered these pins for sale to the general public. I have recently acquired a huge lot of Apple promotional, swag, & training materials never before seen, and will be offering them in the coming months
The Apple III (often rendered as Apple ///, pronounced Apple 3) was a business-oriented personal computer produced and released by Apple Computer that was intended as the successor to the popular Apple II models, but largely considered market failure. Development work on the Apple III started in late 1978 under the guidance of Dr. Wendell Sander. It had the internal code name of "Sara", named after Sander's daughter. The machine was first announced and released on May 19, 1980, but due to serious stability issues that required a design overhaul and a recall of existing machines, it was formally reintroduced the following fall. Development stopped and the Apple III was discontinued on April 24.
The pin is in near mint condition. This would make a nice addition to your collection. Measures approximately ½" in diameter. It features a rarely seen dark blue background with brass emblem.
The leading online retailer for apple memorabilia sells these for ~$300 ( https://missingbite.com/collections/lapel-pins/products/apple-iii-lapel-pin found here ) grab a slice of computing history before it is gone!
